Dear Grade 6 Students and Parents,

The midterm exam is approaching. Please review the scope below to prepare well.

 

Oral Exam

Read aloud a dialogue with 1-2 other students.  

 

Listening and Written Exams will cover all content from Week 1 to Week 8. (Week 7-8 will only be Vocab, NOT the story.)

My View Stories

The following stories from our My View curriculum will be included in the exam:

1.       From Love, Amalia                            

2.       A Borrowed Bunny  

 

Please review each story’s genre, key elements, vocabulary, and comprehension questions.

Exam Format

l   Multiple Choice: Vocabulary recognition and story comprehension.

l   Short Answer: Definitions and questions about the main characters and story details.

 

Vocabulary (Week 1-8)

Students should know:

l   Spelling and definitions matching

l   Usage in sentences

l   Recognition in a sentence or by picture.

 

Phonics and Conventions (Practice Book)

·         Latin roots port, dict, ject, terr

·         Suffixes –ize, -ance, -ence, -ist

·         Silent consonants

·         Pronouns and antecedents

·         Prepostional Phrases

 

Please review MyView, the Practice Book, and weekly vocabulary carefully.
